Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
